Digital Mileage
Correction and mileage adjustment services
The mileage
correction service
updates the memory chip holding the vehicles mileage. The
process used to perform the correction is dependant on the
manufacturer, model , year and sometimes the make of the
dash board. Several dashboard OEM manufacturers can be used
in the production of one model. Some vehicles can be
done diagnostically - plugging a connector into the cars OBD
(on board diagnostic terminal) meaning a direct connection
into the car's computers system removing the need to take
the dash out of the car.
The make of the dashboard
can usually be seen on the dashboard itself - usually
near the dials e.g. Sagem, VDO or UKNSI motoMeter.
Before contacting us please
which type of dashboard you have (not always displayed on
some models). The vehicle year of manufacture is also
important.
We can also reset the
service indicator for most cars.
Why do i need digital mileage correction?
Imported cars that record the mileage (KM) need to be converted to MPH then need the reading adjusted to reflect the Miles equivalent.
Faulty dash clusters need to be rematched to the true mileage. Dash boards are known to develop faults e.g. when there are electrical problems on the car - flat battery, jump starting , alternator faults which can cause the mileage chip to jump and increment or loose miles. This is fairly common and may necessitate replacement of the faulty dashboard.
Instruments on the dash fail e.g. a fuel indicator motor - this can often be repaired but it can some times be cheaper to replace the whole dash unit with a second hand one from a breakers yard. As it is unlikely that you will be able to get one with the exact mileage as the original we can help calibrating the new one to the required value.
This is where we can help you to get your car back to normal.
